Vintage G. Pruefer Artist Model Bb Boehm Clarinet

A super rare c.1930 vintage 'Artist' model Bb Boehm system clarinet by George Pruefer of Rhode Island. It has a grenadilla wood body (and later ebonite barrel) with nickel alloy keys, 7 rings - and a metal lined upper joint with metal toneholes! I've never seen or heard of another one of these! It is in great vintage condition, with no body cracks or repairs, and shows an unbelievable level of craftsmanship. The clarinet has been disassembled, soaked in oil, keys swedged and countersunk (to remove lost motion), body and keys buffed, all new white Roo leather pads and cork installed, and reassembled and adjusted for optimal play-ability. The tone is warm, woody, broad and response through the registers, ergonomics and intonation are good. Great budget vintage Jazz horn! Includes vintage case (probably original) in solid used condition. I will mention that this instrument plays a little sharp for me - about 15 cents - so it would be a good choice for someone who plays solo or with tunable instruments like guitar or violin....hence the ridiculously low price!

All shipping is by Fedex or USPS priority with tracking (depending on the weight of the item). I can generally ship a clarinet and case for $14-25 - I try not to pad shipping. Most returns accepted within 5 days and will issue refund (minus 10% for restock and cleaning), store credit or an exchange. Antique/vintage instrument refunds issued on a case by case basis.
