Vintage Gold-plated Buescher C Melody Saxophone
$1195
A very rare 1925 vintage pro C Melody saxophone made by Buescher of the USA. It is matte finish gold plating on the body and mirror finish gold on the keys - their nicest finish package! Its in amazing condition for its age, with no significant dents or repairs - nothing that materially impacts looks or playability. Plating is about 98%, with straight tone holes.
Its been disassembled, cleaned, tarnish-dipped, hand ragged, swedged and countersunk (to tighten the mechanism) posts aligned, tone holes leveled, rods trued, all tan leather pads (with original gold colored snap-on resos) installed, key/neck corks and felts replaced, reassembled and adjusted for optimal play-ability. The horn is a really nice player, with a warm, fat tone, surprisingly good intonation, and comfortable key work: would be a good horn for Trad Jazz, Church, Theater... anywhere you'd like to read concert charts! I'm very pleased with the condition and play-ability of this saxophone! The case for this one is long gone (it was hanging on the wall of the late grandfather of the guy who sold it me, and completely black with oxidation!), but you can order a C melody case from Allied, or just use a tenor sax gig bag. Doesn't have original C mouthpiece (for which you can be grateful), so I corked the neck for tenor - it plays more in tune and with better tone than an alto mouthpiece!
