Vintage Kohlert Sax Oboe

A very rare circa 1925 vintage sax oboe in C, made by Kohlert of Graslitz, Bohemia. It is silver-plated brass or German silver and is in great condition for its age, with no significant dents or dent repairs - nothing that materially impacts looks or playability. Plating is 100% and the engraving is still sharp. This is basically a marching oboe designed for sax players to double on, fingerings being almost exactly the same as a saxophone! It takes an oboe reed. The only defect is what appears to be a stock #, engraved on the back of the bell and upper thumbrest: I suspect it was a school horn at one time!
Its been disassembled, cleaned, swedged and countersunk (to tighten the mechanism), silver dipped/hand-ragged, black Roo leather pads installed, and key/tenon corks replaced, reassembled and adjusted for optimal play-ability. This unusual horn is a good player, with a bright, penetrating tone, good intonation, and comfortable key work: it would be a useful horn for church work, vocal lines, flute parts, and of course oboe parts - especially outdoors where an expensive wood oboe wouldn't be desirable! I'm very pleased with the condition and play-ability of this instrument and it comes with a vintage Conn clarinet case in clean, solid condition, which was modified to hold the instrument.
