Vintage P. Gerard Beaugnier Stencil Eb Alto Saxophone
$785
A rare mid/late 1950's vintage alto saxophone made by Beaugnier of France for Paul Gerard, a Parisian music dealer. It is lacquered brass and is in good condition for its age, with no significant dents or repairs - nothing that materially impacts looks or playability. Lacquer is about 90%, with cool oxidation, and it has straight tone holes. Beaugnier also made the French-built Vitos, which are becoming deservedly popular!
It arrived with recent Selmer style pads (with brown plastic resos) well installed, so I oiled the mechanism, reseated a couple of pads, and adjusted it for optimal play-ability. The horn is a really good player, with a full, slightly edgy tone, good intonation, and comfortable key work: it would be a good horn for Jazz, Rock, Funk, Blues... I'm very pleased with the condition and play-ability of this saxophone! Comes with vintage case (possibly original) in clean, solid condition.
