Vintage Gretsch Beaugnier Alto Sax
$875
A rare 1950's vintage alto saxophone, made by Beaugnier of France for Gretsch of USA. It is lacquered brass and is in good condition for its age, with no significant dents or dent repairs. Lacquer is c.90%, with one re-soldered post. It has lovely engraving, some nifty guard pearls, and a G# key with an articulatable lever to engage/disengage from C# - a rare feature that I've only seen on period Couesnons!
Its been disassembled, cleaned, swedged and countersunk (to tighten the mechanism) posts aligned, tone holes leveled, rods trued, all tan leather pads installed, key corks replaced, reassembled and adjusted for optimal play-ability. The horn is a really good player, with a full, focused tone, good intonation, and comfortable key work: it would be a good horn for Jazz, Rock, Funk, Blues... I'm very pleased with the condition and play-ability of this saxophone! Comes with original case in clean, solid condition.
