The clarinet arrived today as expected. Package traveled well and the result is all I hoped for. Thank you so much for your expertise, promptness, and personal way of serving customers. We have a concert tomorrow so will give it a work out. Your fine work is appreciated with the fine action of the keys and skill with pads and cork work. I’m very happy with the result and good luck in all your future endeavors.

I just received my 1960-ish Thibouville Freres clarinet from Jeremy after a complete overhaul. Every part of the experience from finding his website to reaching out and chatting with him on the phone was extraordinary. Jeremy's affection for these vintage clarinets is reflected in his meticulous craftsmanship, attention to detail and thorough knowledge of the mechanics and intricacies of these beautiful instruments. While waiting for Jeremy to ship back my clarinet I did a lot of reading and came to realize things about it that I never even considered when I played back in school in the '60's and it made me even more grateful to know that it was in Jeremy's capable hands. Upon arrival it certainly did not disappoint. It looked magnificent and after a bit of practice, it played like a dream and I have now welcomed an old friend back into my daily routine. Many thanks! David S. Tucson, AZ
Hi Jeremy, Clarinet arrived today, it is BEAUTIFUL, thanks so much. We may be able to use it in our children's theater production of Anastasia! Thanks again, Donna M, Thousand Oaks CA
Jeremy, I wanted to think you for the wonderful clarinet you sold us: it was highly regarded by her teacher as well as us! In the beginning I was skeptical buying a clarinet online, but now I would 100% recommend your clarinets and services to others! The clarinet we bought was not a Selmer or Buffet Crampon, but I now know that those aren't the only professional clarinets out there. The tone was great and the instrument looked brand new except for one tiny chip that can hardly be seen, it was in your description and we were well aware of it from the start. it was was a pleasure to do business with you and I pray that God will continue bless you!
Thank you again Mr Soule! sincerely the Conaway family
Jeremy,
I finally got to play the clarinet you restored. I am WOWED at how amazing it plays and sounds. There are some unique things about it but this clarinet is a keeper for me. I appreciate your expertise to have it restored and giving it new life.
Thanks and look forward to working with you in the future. - Bruce M. Richland, VA
I just got it! I don't play great but it sure does, thanks for your help.
- Dixon N. Taylorsville, UT
Jeremy,
I just got my clarinet today and it's fabulous! It looks so nice that I didn't want to touch it. The keys feel nice and tight and the polish is wonderful. I sent my mouthpieces to Ramón Wodkowski and all I have is the Bundy mouthpiece from my very first clarinet. Thank you so much for your hard work.
Andrew P. (IL)
Jeremy,
BRAVO! Super blown away by the condition and sound of this instrument. I just couldn’t be any happier. Finally my clarinet quest is over!!!!! It was such a pain in the ass finding the right one. I had such a strong feeling about the two that I picked out of your shop from just listening to them. I have a good ear and just knew they would be a great pick. I was a bit leery of another online purchase but am so happy that I decided to buy from you! The whole register of this Selmer is just absolutely stunning!!!!!!!!!!!! Every clarinet I have played has had such a stuffy mid-range and that certainly is not the case for this Selmer. You’re completely correct in saying they just aren’t built like this anymore (probably not the same for the pro horns that cost $$$$$$$$), but all of the horns in my price range were just s***. I will definitely be utilizing you as my repair man on my reed instruments whenever they need to be serviced or overhauled.
CAN’T THANK YOU ENOUGH!
Sincerely, Steve B. Denver CO
Jeremy, woowwwwww

Thank you so much for the beautiful work. It plays and sounds beautiful! And definitely doesn't need another barrel. I had a Selmer Signet when I was younger that played flat no matter what I did, but I definitely don't have that problem with this beautiful instrument so I'm quite happy! - Luke C. Michigan
So I've finally had time to sit down and play with the clarinets. An amazing product to say the least. And the packing was perfect. Thank you very much for the great service!
- Spyro T., Montreal, Canada
Well I Finally got the horn !!!!!
And man does this thing sing!
I was hopeful but I really couldn’t have imagined how nice this speaks . Really REALLY nice horn!!! You did a phenomenal job. Thanks Again , it was worth the wait. Greg A., CA
Hi Jeremy,
I finally got a good opportunity to sit down with the Uebel clarinet this morning. It's so clean and feels great to the touch! I'm still learning German clarinet, so it is shaky going! But I really want to try and get comfortable with German system. Thanks for your gorgeous work. The instrument is really beautiful and ready to be played! Thanks for bringing it back. I'm so happy with it, Jeremy!
- Bill F.
Good morning Mr. Soule, Just want to thank you again. I received the clarinet in the mail and played it with a little jazz group last night in Virginia. It has a beautiful sound, and the woodwork in quite pretty. Everything appears in perfect order with the springs and corks. I look forward to using it for years to come! I'll need to get used to reaching for a couple fingering differences in the older system, but that doesn't take away from your wonderful work.
All the best, Nathaniel L.,
Jeremy, I got the clarinet today and I am absolutely enamored. Thank you very much for your precise work, it truly came out as a masterpiece...and holy moly is she loud!
Thanks again, Dimitri D., IL
Hi Jeremy,
I purchased the 1925 Bb Albert System Clarinet for my husband and we received it about a week ago.. George absolutely loves it. He plays Bouzouki and had started to add clarinet to his repertoire however his clarinet was stolen a few years back. Thankfully, yours arrived safe n sound and exactly as he'd hoped. Thank you. It was a pleasure dealing with someone with such professionalism and integrity. Your product was as described. Both George and I wish you continued success with your business. We will definitely be recommending you to anyone who is interested in purchasing your instruments.
Kind regards, George and Vicki R.- Australia
Mr Soule brought a Penzel Mueller Artist, circa 1930, back from the brink, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Played it for the first time at rehearsal last night and nearly cried. For less than what the local shop was charging for new pads and corks, he pored over every inch of this clarinet, and sent it back to me promptly. During the process, he kept me informed and entertained. He’s a plethora of knowledge regarding all things woodwind, and he’s wickedly funny. Thank heavens for internet searches, USPS, and folks who still care about old, forgotten things.
Anita M., Fort Worth TX
Hi Jeremy, I see you've been busy with clarinets! Just wanted to follow up on the Combo tenor as it's almost been a year already. Well, with a Vandoren V16, it is rockin'! Literally, I found my way into a rock 'n roll band with this horn. I know Conn 10m's are the quintessential rock tenor but this Combo can hold it's own. Thanks for your first class workmanship. Action feels great on it yet.
-Mike M.
Jeremy
I just wanted to let you know I received the clarinet and played it for the last week of shows of my current contract. It works great and I am very happy with it.
Thank you, Eunice R. VA
Hi Jeremy,
I just wanted to let you know that the clarinet arrived in great condition and it is absolutely magnificent! Thank you so much for the care you put into restoring this clarinet! Hopefully I'll have more time to play in the coming weeks.
Best, Andrew C. MA
Hi Jeremy,
The Conn 444N finally arrived and has been a constant source of delight. I played though some Hungarian duets with one of my students at the Riverina Conservatorium and I had no difficulty adjusting the intonation with another player on a modern Buffet. Loved the beautiful blending tone and ease of bending the pitch for Jazz and Folk styles. The precision of of the pad work and mechanism regulation is truly outstanding and has resulted in a fine player's instrument. Many thanks, Nick (Australia)
Hi Jeremy,
I received the clarinet one hour ago. Very nice indeed and I was in a hurry to play. Fingering is a bit tricky at first for some notes but clear sound and easy to blow. I’m surprised with this clarinet short overall length compared with my Bohem system clarinets. Short length and light weight. I’ve now to work on. Many thanks again, good job on this instrument, solid case, fast delivery. French customs ask for 44€ a very low amount, thanks for that too...
Sincerely yours, Jean-Claude P., France
Hi Jeremy,
Just a quick email to let you know we received the clarinet yesterday all safe and sound and it sounds fantastic. You do a wonderful job restoring these old instruments and we couldn’t be happier. Thanks again for all your help.
Best Regards, Paul H., NSW Australia.
JEREMY has a very impressive mastery of his craft. I have had lots of work done by him, and I have bought one of the clarinets that he refurbished; the quality is truly excellent. Very gifted individual!
- Glenn B. Lynchburg VA
Jeremy -
This is a great clarinet. I never would have thought of a Bettoney - I was looking for an Albert system Buffet, but its wonderful, thanks to your restoration work. It's got that big round tone, the keys are just feel great to play - and after my simple system horn, this is like easy street. - John B. NYC
Jeremy,
Received the clarinet yesterday and it's amazing. It looks like a different instrument! Plays great! Thank you very much.
Edgar P, NY
Good morning Jeremy,
Hope this message finds you well. I just wanted to take a minute and thank you for your incredible work. I received the clarinets the other day and have been meaning to email you to tell you how happy I am with the outcome. They truly are like new. I recently ran into another antique Dujardin that I might be sending your way soon. Hope we can work together again.
Thanks again, Dimitri D., Illinois
Jeremy,
My daughter got the clarinet for her birthday and was just blown away. It really is a beautiful sounding instrument.
Thanks again, Thane M., Alaska
Jeremy, the clarinet arrived today! It looks GREAT! Thank you. The repaired post looks good, too. It plays now like it did when I first got it. Thanks again for all you hard work.
- Bob W. Texas
Hi Jeremy
Just got back and got my hands on my clarinet great job in fact excellent, Took is out of the shipping box and put my mouthpiece right on it and began playing it I missed it a lot.
Nice work on the keys so so smooth I love the way you set up the key works, there all the same height and same tension, Now that is Professional
It plays the same very clean and so so nice that Jazz tone that I love so well I was so worried Jeremy that I was going to loose that but you kept your word and I didn't loose a thing except old pads and I got back better key work and smooth playing just what I wanted but never expected so much.
Thanks Jeremy for all the extra efforts and all the added touches to my extension of my soul.
Clyde R., Hawaii
Hi Jeremy,
Delighted with the Buffet A clarinet. It arrived safely today. Put on a Chedeville style mouthpiece and it played straight out of the case. The repair work you have done when it was overhauled is truly outstanding. Looking forward to spending more time on it.
Many thanks! Nick W., Australia
Hi Jeremy;
Your clarinet plays very beautifully. I just cannot stop playing it! Congratulations Maestro (in Italy we use "maestro" not only for skillful musicians, but also for skilled handicrafts. In your case the word fits both meanings).
All the best, Luca P.,Italy
Hi Jeremy,
Just wanted to say that the horn arrived today. Can't thank you enough. I have to stop playing now so that I won't annoy my wife and kids but I'd spend the rest of the evening on this horn if I could. (and I haven't even gotten the backing tracks going yet....) I'm amazed at what you did with it. I fear this could be the beginning of a dangerous addiction to vintage horns. If you get anything in stock in Eb or A I could be in real trouble....
Thanks again, Allen R. Tallahassee, FL
Hi Jeremy,
Just wanted to let you know the Buffet arrived safely yesterday. It looks and plays great! Thanks again for your attention and expertise in bringing this instrument back. Its really a thrill to see the transformation.
All Best, Brian
Hello, I got the clarinet on time. My son (12 years old) took it with him to Armenia. I am very happy with the service. It is sad that I cannot leave you a feedback, however I would left you 5 Stares positive feedback. Thank you very much. -Meri, CA
HI Jeremy,
A year ago is when I first got in touch with you, and as a result now have two wonderful antique clarinets as part of my small collection. I'd like to comment on the continued compliments I receive regarding the tone of the Penzel Mueller Artist. The comments are from fellow musicians who possess a good sense of how things should sound. Just recently a very experienced flute, oboe, sax, and bassoon player commented on the tone in general, and specifically the altissimo. I had played a Mozart duet with someone who plays a Buffet, not sure of the model, and was told mine sounds better. Imagine that! I already thought that the P/M sounds best up high of any of mine, so that bolsters my opinion.
So, keep up the good work, and thanks for steering me toward two real gems. John M.
Hi Jeremy
I have been playing the Jean Barre again this morning. It not only looks fantastic, it is one terrific player! I really believe having you refurbish it was the best money I have spent to have a clarinet overhauled!
Thanks again, Gary K.
Jeremy,
Just wanted to send a note to follow up on my recent purchase of a Thibouville Freres vintage clarinet you had restored, as a birthday present for my oldest daughter in advance of her relocating to Scotland for graduate studies. She was very pleased and complimentary of the tone quality of the clarinet, as was my wife - also a longtime clarinetist in her own right. Thank you for a job well done, and for the affordable quality instrument! Bill M., IL
Jeremy, you did it! I just picked up my 1951 Buffet pre R13 clarinet, which my Mother bought for me, and which you've restored. I LOVE it. I think you did an excellent job. You said it was 'playing well' but I think it plays superbly. It just feels great, and sounds spectacular to me. It also looks wonderful. I'm a satisfied customer, very much so, and you can quote me.
A. Chekow, Rochester NY
Hi Jeremy,
I received the clarinet yesterday. Bravo! It is a very beautiful looking instrument - the variations in the grenadilla wood are beautiful. I'm not qualified to evaluate the tone on it, but everything looks to be functioning well, and I'm sure it will sound great once I get off the ground with it. Anyways, off the bat, I'm very impressed.
Thanks, Dave A., CA
Jeremy,
I couldn't believe when I opened the box! It's fantastic! I took it to Muncy Winds in NC and picked up a Fobes extension which made it a lot easier to play in tune. The folks there were very impressed with it. The keys look and feel amazing to me. When I can scratch together the money I'd like to send an old Freres Lamont to you for an overhaul.
Blessings, Rob O.
Hi Jeremy,
It's here! I had to be careful not to tear it open too quickly! It was quite impressive as I pulled it from the box, the case complete with the Temple U. logo. What a nice bonus! I think I may put the case aside and use my aftermarket one when my new baby leaves home just to preserve it. I've only played a few minutes so far, and I'm extremely pleased. It's easy blowing like the P/M Brilliante, and enables me to partially overcome the problem I mentioned when trying to play softly. The Pruefer keys feel great, and the extra fork fingering with the seventh ring should come in handy.
Thanks for the great work you do, John M., Northampton, MA
Hi Jeremy
Clarinet arrived 15 minutes ago at 1.15 Spanish time.1st impressions.Sounds and plays really nice. Quite sure I'm going to enjoy this when I've got used to the different feel under the fingers. The articulation, especially in the clarion, is so much crisper and more accurate. And the altissimo comes out so easily. The wood looks remarkable .
-Cheers, Trevor B., Spain
Jeremy,
I wanted to take the time to thank you for the wonderful Penzel Mueller Artist Model Metal Clarinet that I recently purchased from you. It is a real pleasure to play. The tension in the keys is just right and the tone in all registers is exceptional. It’s great that you can resurrect these old clarinets and get them back out there for people to enjoy.
Thanks again. Fred P. WI, USA
Hi Jeremy,
The horn arrived on Saturday afternoon. It plays great, it has more "punch" and is more focused than my other 3 Tenors so it's good to have that variety. For me, it plays very similarly to the Selmers sound wise but at a fraction of the cost so that is excellent! I can get a much more "commercial" sound on it than I can on my other horns and the altissimo pops out very easily. It feels great under the fingers and the overhaul you did feels good. Overall I'm very happy, thank you for such a smooth transaction and i wouldn't hesitate to do business with you again or to recommend you to my colleagues.
Anyway, thanks again Jeremy, Alex J. Las Vegas, NV
Hi Jeremy,
I picked up the clarinet last Friday and gave it a intensive try during the weekend. I'm deeply impressed by the instrument. Very good intonation, very good ergonomics for me (I have small hands) an last but not least: very, very well made overhaul from you. Thank you very much for your excellent work. Keep going on with it and have a good time.
-All the best, Helmut N. , Germany
Hi Jeremy
Got the Sax today. You've done a beautiful job on the restoration of the instrument. It has a wonderful sound, and is very consistent throughout its' range.
Derek B., Olympia, WA
Hi Jeremy,
The clarinet has arrived. Congratulations on your excellent workmanship. This old Hawke is now a delight to play. Thanks again.
Ciao, Jack M. Australia
Hi Jeremy,
I received the clarinet and it plays wonderfully, thank you!

Jeremy,
Just wanted to let you know I received the clarinet yesterday and its beautiful and plays beautifully. I really appreciate the workmanship you put in to restore these instruments. Thank you!
- Ted B. , Duarte CA
Hi Jeremy,
I picked up the clarinet today and have been playing it for last two hours or so (my thumb rather hurts now from supporting it that long!). The tone and volume are amazing and I find it so easy to play, especially in the higher register, when compared to my existing horn. The mouth piece you included works very well and is quite similar to what I'm used to. The more I play the Conn, the better it sounds. Oh yes, and the vintage case is very impressive also! Thanks. I'm really pleased to now own a fine vintage clarinet and especially one that appears to work perfectly. Many thanks for a seamless transaction.
- Simon A., Vancouver, BC
Hello Jeremy!
I am so happy to have it restored! You did a fabulous job. I am slowly learning to play again and I'm having an absolute blast. Thanks again. I am thrilled with your work and so happy to have found you!
-Rita K. Alabama
Hi Jeremy, The saxophone arrived yesterday !! I'm honestly reallly happy with it. It plays top to bottom and it has a wonderful sound and really fast action compared to my student model Yanagisawa.

Dear Fellow Musicians;
I've relied on The Vintage Clarinet Doctor to re-pad & repair several of my vintage saxophones and I can highly recommend him. My first contact with him was to ask his help in repairing a 1926 Conn bass sax octave key mechanism that was damaged upon arrival from the seller. This was a complex repair that the Doc fixed promptly, so that I could use this sax in a spring of 2008 musical, SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE.
Later on, he re-padded a 1926 Conn soprano sax with roo pads. He also re-padded a 1918 Buescher C-Melody Tenor of mine with conventional leather pads. Both saxs play great! The Doc has located & repaired leaks on an 1948 Aristocrat tenor sax of mine, and now he is scheduling a re-pad of my 1946 Aristocrat Alto. I know from my previous experience, that his skill will deliver a tight playing horn that will be "rattle-free".
The Doc doesn't back down from a challenge, enjoys helping people, and demonstrates great attention to detail; And his rates are reasonable!
- John Sibley, Halifax, VA
Hi Jeremy,
Breathed a sigh of relief when the Selmer arrived today. It looks absolutely wonderful! With a new reed and ligature I gave it a whirl. What a thrill after all these years. It has a wonderful tone and response. The action was consistent and smooth throughout and much more than I expected ( or remember). Called my dad immediately to share the excitement. I told him it was like a brand new instrument. Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate what you were able to do and the care and attention that you brought to it. I really am thrilled with the result.
Thanks again. Brian D.
Hi Jeremy, I wanted to give you a report on the Kohlert. After spending lots of quality time with it this weekend I must say it plays very nicely. At least as far as I can play it! :-) I really like the tone it has. Very warm and clear. Nice and woody. Intonation's not too bad to my ear. Really, I'm delighted with it. It's a nice clarinet without qualification and a lot of fun to play thanks to your expert service. I love seeing it on your website too! Thanks again! - M. Jack, Maryland
Jeremy,
I just want to thank you for your 1st class work on the Conn 424N. Your American craftsmanship has kept an American classic in perfect working order. Well done! I hope to hear how your Conn turns out as well. Now I have no excuses for learning some American swing.
-M. McGarty, CA
Jeremy,
Had a chance to play the saxophones and really like the way they play. You did a fine re-pad on them! thanks -J.Axman, Colorado
Hello Jeremy,
I thank you for excellent service and an excellent instrument. I feel quite privileged to own this and doff my cap to Monsieur Barbier's original craftsmanship and your restorative work. I think it a very good thing that you can salvage these wonderful works and wish your enterprise every success.
- Julian H., London, England
Hey Jeremy,
You've out did yourself ... my Tenor and Alto are playing fantastic! The tone and response of both are outstanding ... it's comforting to have a woodwind Doctor right in my backyard. - Charlie Exley, Bedford VA
Hi Jeremy,
Clarinets arrived. They are Wonderful !and Beauteous!..Many, Many Thanks!
- Ed G. Lakebay, WA
"Jeremy is definitely the person to ask to overhaul or adjust your clarinet. He is meticulous, knowledgeable, incredibly well versed in woodwinds (and in multiple other subjects), takes pride in his work, charges a fair price, and delivers an instrument that you will take great delight in playing. He has taken several average-playing vintage professional clarinets (and saxophones) of mine and made them superior performers. I am not alone among his many satisfied clients. " - Charlie Davidson, Black Mountain NC
Dear Jeremy,
I received my Conn Clarinet yesterday being Friday the 20 th May 2011. All aspects of the delivery through USPS, then in UK onward through PARCELFORCE went perfectly. I want to tell you that I am so very happy and pleased with my purchase, and spent most of the afternoon playing the Instrument. Likewise, I find the mouthpiece you recommended suites me fine. I appreciate your help and advice and wholeheartedly respect your obvious expertise and skills. I shall be keeping a watch on your EBAY Shop and your Website and you could well find me making subsequent purchases in the future.
-Frederick H. London, England
I really liked the clarinet. Played for an hour with it. Tried different set ups. Its playing very nicely. You did a great job for sure. I feel very confident to say that not only because of the quality of the service itself but because I had recently bought a horn from another person here and the experience was very frustrating. This served as a comparison and to show how special your service really is. Your professionalism and attention to detail can be easily confirmed when I play the horn and see how smooth everything is. Not to mention your care with my shipping needs and your suggestions of different set ups. Thanks a lot for that.
- C. Lima, Brasil
"I have been playing saxophone for 38 years professionally and for personal enjoyment. I have had numerous horns and repairs performed. I recently aquired a The Martin 1960 tenor sax that had just received a full rebuild by Jeremy. He was very accurate in his description of the horn and great to work with on completing the transaction. When the horn arrived his work was detailed and high quality. Best of all, the 1960 Martin plays as good or better than my 1 year old Selmer reference 36 Tenor. The sax is regulated well for intonation and plays effortlessly. I would highly recommend Jeremy for a purchase or rebuild of a vintage woodwind. Jeremy is among the top tier of woodwind technician I have worked with. I would easily trust him to work on any of my modern or vintage saxes."
- Ken Caviasca, Phoenix Arizona
hello Jeremy
I receive the sax and played it many times...you did a great job on it I love it.....thanks a lot and be proud by your work on it it s a great job. I hope I will find you another time for a great sax.
regards, reno (France)
Jeremy was in the last 2 years the man in USA who repaired the top vintage clarinets I bought in not seldom very devastated condition. All these are now real diamonds of my collection! The beginning of our relationship was the purchase of a Penzel-Mueller and I bought also further of his instruments. I would say it was a good fate that I came on this excellent man. If you would read our correspondence you see that we had also what could be named an intercontinental music dialogue to the benefit of us both.
-Friedrich G. Hoermann, Vienna, Austria
Hi Jeremy,
I played the clarinet today and it is awesome! Thank you so much for your work. - Estelle S., Dallas TX
Hi Jeremy, Just an update - the Dupre arrived yesterday afternoon OMG! It's really a decent horn! Huge sound without being overly bright. The throat tones are super clear. The beautiful thing is that the tone quality and clarity is even right up through the altissimo. The intonation is very good as well yet flexible. It's very responsive and playable. And it plays very freely without much back pressure. You did an EXCELLENT job on the overhaul!! Like I said on my ebay feedback - it's clear the work you do is a labor of love. Thanks so much! I'll be in touch!
-Joe Lukasik
Thanks Doc,
I never knew a used instrument could play so well. Allow me to congratulate you for the great overhaul on this instrument, it is one of the best that I've played so far. I found what I had been missing all these years...that which most of the newer horns don't give you; quality!
-Samuel Mendez, San Juan, PR.
Dear Jeremy,
I received the Barbier this morning and used it for my daily practice. It does indeed have a dark, beautiful tone quality and I am very grateful for your advice concerning the relative merits of this
instrument and another model on your books. You have clearly done a very good job in renovating this old horn to its former glory and I am very proud to be its new owner.
Thank you again, Stafford D. (France)

Hi Jeremy,
I finally got a good opportunity to sit down with the Uebel clarinet this morning.

Jeremy -
This is a great clarinet.
Hi Jeremy;
- A. Kopp, Rhode Island
Jeremy,
Just wanted to let you know I received the clarinet yesterday and its beautiful and plays beautifully.

Dear Fellow Musicians;
(France)
